A good weekend, another busy week ahead

Greetings Loyal Readers! ®

Couldn't have asked for a nicer weekend. Met with friends Friday night for Tex-Mex food & margaritas, and we had a good time. Sadly, one of the couples that were with us are relocating next month to Salt Lake City, Utah due to the husband's job situation, and it hit us that our circle of friends is once again changing. This couple was with us at our wedding, we visited them in the hospital after the birth of their two children, and while it is fortunate that he found a job, I can't imagine packing up my life, uprooting myself from a comfortable home, leaving nearby friends and family, and relocating to another location. Even though I did this when I moved to Austin to attend college, I was young and not as settled and secure in life as I am now. I mentioned in a friend's LJ about our circle of friends changing over the years, and while we're optimistic for our friends, it is still going to feel weird without them around.

I probably could have done without the double-shot of jagermeister which the guys of the group toasted our departing friends with. I'm not fond of the licorice flavor, but I can't just push away a double-shot now can I?

Slept in Saturday, no ill effects from the night before, so we went to a local nursery and picked up some fresh herbs to replace the ones that we lost. Basil, garlic chives, Italian oregeno, flat-leaf parsley, apple mint, and rosemary. The Mrs. got a lavender plant and something called butterfly weed. (No, this isn't marijuana for butterflies...) Got home, repotted everything, and set them out on our balcony. We're both not 'green thumbs'...more like the 'black hand of floral & plant death' but we planted at the right time this round, instead of the middle of the intolerable summer. Afterwards we walked down to the pool for some sunbathing. We had the entire pool to ourselves which was nice. 70 degrees Fahrenheit, (21 Celsius) barely a cloud in the sky and a nice breeze. Unfortunately we stayed out too long and we're both pretty red and crispy. Ouch...
Visited with more friends for a birthday party that afternoon & evening for grilled burgers, beer, and even more chillin' time. Sunday was uneventful. We watched an episode of Doctor Who that we taped from Friday night. "World War III" This show just keeps getting better...

Seems that hanging out with friends and chillin' out seems to be a recurring theme around these parts... Glad to see you had a wonderful time [info]manchester_red and [info]tysolna
